We continue to work very hard to make sure that everything is safe and learning can still take place. Because orchestra instruments do not require us to blow into them or expel air to play we are actually in a pretty good place to continue with business sort of as usual.
We will follow the school policy for face coverings. Please see the HSSD Covid19 information page for more information.
Classes will be kept small! We also will not be set up in our normal orchestra set up. Students will be spread out and have their own area.
This year we will be utilizing instrument storage space within our classroom. Unlike last year students will have an assigned shelf or shared cubby (with someone in their class).
School instruments are still available for students to rent. If you need a school instrument please contact Mr. Wucherer ASAP. All of these instruments have been sitting unused since April and have been sanitized as an added precaution.
School Cellos and Basses will still be available for use during class time! We have implemented a thorough process of sanitizing these instruments and are following the guidelines recommended by ASTA (American String Teacher's Association) in coordination with the CDC and other health organizations. We will be using a safe and approved sanitizer on the instruments that will effectively kill nearly all bacteria and viruses (including covid-19) within 10 minutes of application and will not harm the wood of the instruments or the finish.
